Packing List

Last updated 17 Sept 2026

We are very excited about our upcoming adventure together! Before we hit the road, here is a little checklist. Take a look and prepare; we want you to be as comfy as possible on the bike, at the waterfall and around the homestay dinner table.

Print this page, tick things off as you pack, and message us on WhatsApp at +84 973 910 970 if you are unsure about anything.

Must bring

  • Beanie (it can get cold and windy in the mountains)
  • Comfortable shoes you can walk, climb a few steps and sit on a bike in all day
  • Warm pullover
  • Jacket (the passes are a lot cooler than Ha Giang city)
  • Sunglasses (for sun, and for rain while cruising)
  • Long pants
  • Swimming suit (the waterfall awaits)
  • Sunscreen (trust us on that)
  • Mosquito repellent
  • Cash (local markets do not take cards)
  • Passport or a photo of it (needed at homestays)
  • Fanny pack for your phone (your backpack rides wrapped on the bike)

Riding yourself? Add your national driving licence and your International Driving Permit (1968 convention, category A/A1) to the top of the list. Police on the Loop check both.

Maybe

  • Your daily medication
  • Painkillers
  • Face cream (skin gets dry after hours on the bike)
  • Ear plugs
  • Headphones
  • Thermal bottle
  • Power bank and chargers

We have got you covered

Rain coats, rain pants, shoe protectors, water and towels are on us. So are the helmet and protective gear, the bike and the fuel, and three meals a day.

How your luggage travels

Bring your suitcase or big backpack to Ha Giang and leave it with us: luggage storage in our hostel is free while you ride. Take a small bag for the Loop; we strap it to the bike and wrap it against the rain. Keep your phone, cash and passport in the fanny pack on you, not in the strapped bag, so you can reach them at every stop.

A few tips from the road

  • Pack in layers. A day on the Loop can start cold in the valley, get hot at noon and turn cold again on the passes.
  • Your swimming suit goes on day one of the 3-day and 4-day Loops (the waterfall is in the morning), so pack it somewhere easy to reach.
  • Homestays are family homes, not hotels: bring a clean set of clothes for the evening and you will feel great at dinner.
  • Charge everything the night before. Power banks are handy on long days between stops.

See you in Ha Giang!
